National University Corporation Shizuoka University (President: Kazuyuki Hizume; Location: Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture; "Shizuoka University") and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (President & Director: Kingo Hayashi; Headquarters: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture; "Chubu Electric Power") have decided to establish Chubu Electric Power Nuclear Safety Engineering Collaborative Course ("Course") as of April 1, 2025 in order to promote collaborative research on nuclear safety.

In the 7th Strategic Energy Plan formulated by the Japanese government, nuclear power generation was organized as a highly autonomous power source with strong decarbonization benefits, excellent supply stability and technological self-sufficiency, which should be maximally utilized together with renewable energy sources, with safety assurance as a major prerequisite.

Chubu Electric Power believes that continuous progress in nuclear safety technology is essential for utilizing nuclear energy throughout the future, and we are committed to conducting research on nuclear safety in collaboration with Shizuoka University, located in the site area of Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station.

The two parties will collaborate their technologies and knowledge in this Course to conduct studies on damage evaluation of nuclear materials and new technologies related to nuclear safety.

Through the Course, both parties will promote research that improves nuclear safety technology and contribute to the sustainable development of society and the realization of a decarbonized society.
